Alice in Wonderland - Concept

This is an Alice in Wonderland costume design project that I transformed in to a unique type of set and production design.

My concept for this show is Alice in Wonderland set in an abandoned and haunted amusement park called Wonderland. In addition to the typical and traditional 2D display for costume design renderings with swatches, I created a 3D map of the amusement park. This concept is an immersive theatre experience where the audience follows Alice on her adventure through Wonderland. Each of the 9 characters featured have a designated ride according to my reinvention of each backstory:

Alice - Before: the typical rebellious teen. Alice breaks in to the park and discovers its haunted residents.

Alice - After: Realizing too late that the park is infected with immortal beings, Alice is killed and lost in time forever.

The Queen of Hearts - High School prom queen, dies on the Tower of Terror ride; the first person to die and haunts the park forever, killing off park goers for her amusement, thus creating the rest of the featured characters.

The King of Hearts - The Queen of Hearts' first victim; died by getting heart ripped out; haunts the ferris wheel

The White Rabbit - Conductor of the amusement park train; keeper of time

Cheshire Cat - killer clown that haunts the House of Mirrors

Caterpillar - psychedelic illusion/creature that haunts the roller coaster

The Mad Hatter - mercury poisoning; haunts the carousel; stuck in time

The Dormouse - lifeguard who fell asleep on the job and died; haunts the lazy river

The Marchare - host of the tea party; haunts the tea cup ride
